Forschungsschwerpunkt
Meine Arbeit befasst sich mit den Wechselwirkungen von Pflanzen mit ihrer Umwelt und wie wir dieses Wissen für einen nachhaltigen Pflanzenanbau nutzen können. Mein Fokus liegt hauptsächlich auf Bäumen und Mischwäldern, aber auch auf Agroforstwirtschaft und nachhaltiger Lebensmittelproduktion im globalen Süden, wo ich im Bereich Kapazitätsaufbau tätig bin. Um zu verstehen, wie Pflanzen untereinander und mit Bodenmikroben interagieren und wie diese Interaktionen durch Störungen wie Dürre und Nährstoffmangel beeinflusst werden, untersuche ich Pflanzeneigenschaften sowie die Aktivität und Zusammensetzung der Bodenmikrobengemeinschaft. Eine nachhaltige Ressourcennutzung kann die Produktion langfristig steigern, und die Antwort darauf findet sich teilweise in den physiologischen Reaktionen von Pflanzen und Bodenmikroben aufeinander und auf Stress.
