• 2013 June 2013: habilitation colloquium "Alpine plant life in an era of anthropogenic climate change: Observed shifts of biodiversity patterns in the Alps and on mountain summits across Europe"
• 2013 from July 2013: head of the GLORIA coordination and vice-chair of the IGF (Institute of Interdisciplinary Mountain Research, ÖAW) and the head of its division “GLORIA – Ecology and Climate Change Impact Monitoring”.
• 2007 employed at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Mountain Research: Man and the Environment (IGF) as senior researcher and for the coordination of the GLORIA network.
• 2005 Scientific co-ordinator of the international GLORIA network (Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments); implementation of a world-wide site-based monitoring network (more than 120 sites in Feb. 2014), various research trips in Europe, Asia, N- and S-America, Africa, Australasia.
• 2005 - 2007 Full-time university assistant of the Dept. of Conservation Biology, Vegetation and Landscape Ecology (University of Vienna)
• 2001 - 2003 Europe-wide setup of the network from the Mediterranean to the sub-arctic zones in 18 mountain regions (member of the project coordination GLORIA-Europe in the 5. Research Framework of the EU).
• 1998 Development of methods for an international long-term monitoring network for ecological impacts of climate warming in high mountains (GLORIA, www.gloria.ac.at).
• 1996 Arctic expedition to Franz-Joseph-Land, Russia (participation at the International Tundra Experiment).
• 1994 Setup of the research site Schrankogel (Tirol, Austria).
• 1994 - 1998 PhD thesis at the University of Vienna on ecological distribution patterns and climate-induced changes of vascular plants in the alpine-nival ecotone of the Eastern Alps.
• 1993 Scientific employee for the high mountain ecology/climate impact research focus at the Department of Conservation Biology, Vegetation and Landscape Ecology (Univ. of Vienna).
• 1984 - 1993 Study of biology/botany at the University of Vienna, diploma thesis on syn-ecology and distribution patterns of alpine grassland communities in the eastern central Alps.
