Forschungsschwerpunkt

Seit Beginn meiner wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit beschäftigt mich die Frage, wie wir Gestaltungsprinzipien für Übergänge zu einer nachhaltigen Landnutzung entwickeln können, die planetare Grenzen respektieren und Wohlergehen für alle ermöglichen.

Meine aktuelle Forschung untersucht nun, wie Menschen und ihre Organisationen komplexe Risiken in Agar- und Ernährungssystemen bewältigen. Der Fokus meiner Forschung liegt dabei auf der Analyse von Ereignissen, die in und aus humanitären Krisen führen können. Darüber hinaus untersuche ich die Hindernisse bei der Anpassung an Klima- und Umweltwandel und identifiziere psychologische und institutionelle Faktoren, die kooperatives Verhalten in Krisenzeiten fördern. Ich beforsche auch jene tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in sozialen Systemen, die den Aufbau von Resilienz und Systemtransformation unterstützen.

Ein zentrales Ziel meiner Arbeit ist die Entwicklung von Instrumenten und Beratungsansätzen, die es Menschen erleichtern sollen, komplexe Übergänge in der Natur und der Gesellschaft sicher zu durchlaufen. Diese finden Anwendungen in der humanitären Hilfe, der Wiederherstellung von degradierten Ökosystemen, der Integration von Binnenvertriebenen und Aufnahmegemeinden, und der Skalierung nachhaltiger Land-, Agroforst-, und Weidewirtschaft in fragilen Systemen.

Meine Arbeit trägt zu einer umfassenderen wissenschaftlichen Agenda bei, die Zusammenhänge zwischen Fragilität und sozialem Wandel verstehen möchte.
