Determination of the influence of the albedo of various traffic areas on local climate in urban areas

Abstract
Within the scope of the project "Determination of the influence of the albedo of traffic areas on the local climate in urban areas" the influence of the albedo of various concrete surfaces on the local climate is investigated. This is performed within the scope of experimental studies and model simulations. The aim of the experimental investigations is the determination of energy balance above the tested surfaces: measurements of shortwave and longwave radiation balance as well as of the air and ground temperature under hot weather conditions will be performed. In addition some spectral reflectance measurements will be performed in order to analyse the blinding risks of among others car drivers. The data will be used with climate models (e.g. ENVI-Met, or Kikegawa Urban Canopy Modell) to determine the influence on the local scale of ground reflection on air temperature. Simulations will be performed for urban canyons or for larger concrete areas.
