Integration of intermittent electricity generation into the dispatch-model ELEA
Abstract
The share of intermittent generation of electricity like solar and wind energy is increasing significantly due to political priorities for the "Energiewende". The transformation of the energy system challenges Wien Energie and answers to these challenges are still to be found. The development of a dispatch model (ELEA) which, in detail, considers intermittent production should support decision making with respect to future business models. This project aims at integrating spatially and temporally highly resolved time-series of photovoltaic and wind energy production potentials into the model. Additionally, algorithms which help in finding the appropriate resolution are developed and the final results of ELEA are validated using backcasting approaches.
