Culture-independent detection of fecal associated bacteria in water samples

Coliminder is a culture-independent method for the detection and monitoring of E.coli in aquatic samples. The method relies on the enzymatic activity of fecal associated bacteria. This approach should be evaluated through culture-independent methods in order to use Coliminder as universal parameter and to correlate results of enzymatc acitivty (MFU) with the viability of bacteria.
