E04 Attic Adapt 2050 – Modular Attic Extension Systems for Future Building Adaptation
Abstract
Attic Adapt 2050 focuses on attic extensions in the course of building retrofit activities. Building retrofit activities – in line with EU directive 2010/31 on the energy performance of buildings – offer significant possibilities for saving energy and increasing living comfort to meet modern housing standards. Additionally, they allow existing building stock to be adapted to projected climate change. By choosing timber as the main construction material, both ecological and economic aspects can be addressed (using local resources and strengthening local businesses).
