Abstract
It is the objective of the project to characterize the enzyme pyranose 2-oxidase from the basidiomycete Trametes multicolor in detail, pertaining to both biochemical and technological/operational properties. A detailed characterization will also be necessary for the use of the enzyme in an enzyme membrane reactor to convert possible substrates, e.g., glucose, xylose or gluconolactone, into the corresponding 2-keto derivatives. These can be used as intermediates for the production of fructose, mannitol or isoascorbic acid.
