Participatory Development of Representative Agricultural Pathways for Austria
Abstract
Climate change research heavily depends on scenarios. The current IPCC driven system includes Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) and corresponding Shared Socio-Economic Pathways (SSPs). To downscale SSPs to regional and sectorial levels, Representative Agricultural Pathways (RAPs) have been introduced. It includes rates of technological change, farm structural change or impacts from trade liberalization. RAPs.AT develops RAPs for Austria based on a stakeholder process. The resulting RAPs shall be input to quantitative agricultural mitigation, adaptation and impact studies to improve comparability of methods and results and shall support qualitative studies as well as policy design.
