Technical feasibility of the Wiener Welle project taking into account the technical requirements of the BOKU Responsible River Modeling Center (RRMC)
Abstract
The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences intends to build a Responsible River Modeling Center (RRMC) at the Brigittenau Sporn in Vienna 1200, consisting of (1) a research channel (completed by the end of 2014), a hydraulic engineering laboratory, 3) an outdoor laboratory. The project "Wiener Welle" is an independent supplement to the already approved and partly completed overall facility of the RRMC. In the course of a feasibility study, important planning questions will be clarified and the technical compatibility of the projects will be identified without doubt. It is necessary to check how the planned facilities of the Wiener Welle have an impact on the RRMC and whether the planning satisfies all requirements with regard to load-bearing safety and suitability for use. In addition to an optimization of the layout taking account of BOKU's surface requirements, a central problem lies in the hydraulic feasibility of the project of the Wiener Welle as well as in the determination of the heights, taking into account the necessary outflow conditions.
