Phenotyping of plant root systems
Abstract
Plant phenotyping using modern imaging methods allows acquiring plant traits in a non-destructive way. Using spectral methods provides an approach to extend phenotyping information beyond measurements of morphological structures towards physiological/functional traits of plants. Within the project the method of spectral imaging is optimized for use in root phenotyping and rhizosphere research. Besides improving the experimental approaches, new algorithms are developed to maximize the gain of biologically relevant information (water uptake, lignification) from spectral datasets.
