Fishecological monitoring of the Alte Donau in 2018
- Wasser - Atmosphäre - Umwelt
Abstract
The production of macrophytes in the Alte Donau in 2018 raised massively due to the late ice-covering in the beginning of the year and high temperatures and insolation in early spring. A high abundance of submerged vegetation leads to higher photosynthesis activity and furthermore to increasing pH-values. The pH-values of Alte Donau reached 9 during a longer timeperiod, what can influence fish health. The monitoring in 2018 will review the condition factors of most common fish species in the Alte Donau - an important indicator for fish vitality. Fish for this investigation will be evaluated by netfishing and to cover the abundances specified spots will be sampled by electrofishing.
