Abstract
Large strain and large displacement are common for many problems in geotechnical engineering. Traditionally such problems are simulated by Finite Element Method (FEM). However, such mesh-based methods suffer from inaccuracy and instability for large strain and displacement. The meshless method Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) has been developed to handle such problems. We will develop our own SPH-code to simulate such problems as debris flow, sand jet and soil-structure interaction. The numerical model will be validated by comparing the numerical results with centrifuge model tests.
