Climate Change Centre Austria - Coordination Office
Abstract
The Climate Change Center Austria (CCCA) is the science network for strengthening climate research in Austria. The aim of the CCCA is it to increase the climate research capacities, to strengthen the research community both qualitatively and quantitatively, and to intensify the use of its results by supporting the knowledge transfer. The CCCA is the coordinator of the Austrian climate research community and supports its network members to achieve their research goals, while focusing on the different aspects of climate change science. This includes the physical, political, economic, cultural and social causes of climate Change as well as its impacts on the society, the economy and the environment. It also includes climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies as well as the identification of vulnerabilities and capacities. The CCCA coordination office is responsible for the research coordination and for the transfer of knowledge between the disciplinary diverse researchers with relevant partners, e.g. from the public administration and politics. The CCCA coordination office supports the communication of research results and contributes to the visibility of the scientists. Within this context, the CCCA coordination office supports its members, and in particular the BOKU, to contribute to a „responsible science“. It promotes the dialogue between politics/administration and science and creates the framework conditions for a constructive exchange.
