IEA Bioenergy Task 37 2019-2021
Abstract
The applicant intends to participate in IEA Bioenergy Task 37 „Energy from Biogas“ during the period from 2019 to 2021. In this network of experts the key questions for dissemination and implementation of anaerobic digestion plants from residues, wastes and crops will be discussed and relevant knowledge exchanged between the partners. Furthermore knowledge exchange between the main actors like plant operators, construction company, planner, authorities, associations, research institutions will be realised by brochures, success stories, webpages, workshops and conferences. During the upcoming triennium the focus lies on the ecological and economical implementation of the biogas technology in agricultural and industrial processes. A wise and sustainable implementation of this technology is a global challenge which needs to be solved. While the details and specific aspects from region to region vary. In task 37 the regional and national perspectives will be showed and discussed. Another focus is the sustainable biogas production and biomethane certification, the role of anaerobic digestion for environmental protection, and the implementation in industrial processes. Another important aspect is the multipurpose use of feedstock like harvested straw instead of feeding crops like maize. The utilisation of the gas fraction will be another important issue. Utilisation of biomethane as a fuel and a better application of digestate in a circular economy will be the topics of utilisation the products of anaerobic digestion.
