THEMATIC CONFERENCE ON NOVEL MATERIALS: ASSESSING THE NEED FOR ACTION ON CHEMICAL SAFETY
Abstract
The research project has two overriding objectives: - The results of the project should support the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU) in setting priorities for their own work on novel materials, in particular with regard to regulation and (risk) research. - The discussion process, which will be initiated by the three planned thematic conferences, is intended to ensure that the (political and technical) priorities are scientifically and socially sound. Accordingly, the project consists of a phase of information collection on novel materials and their applications and an initial assessment of their relevance in the regulatory and scientific-technical context. A second phase serves to discuss, complete and further evaluate the collected information with the relevant actors.
