RESILIENCE - Corona-crisis and value chains in agriculture and forestry - lessons learnt

Overall objective of the project RESILIENCE: To present short- and medium-term measures to strengthen agricultural production and its processing and marketing in light of the lessons learnt from the Corona crisis. Work packages BOKU: AP BOKU_LW Long-term perspective: Development of long-term scenarios for Austrian agriculture taking into account the existing Eur-Agri-SSPs scenarios for Europe with a special focus on the following research questions: (a) What are the long-term opportunities and risks for regional value chains and Austria's alpine agriculture? b) What is the role of the agricultural structure and which factors will determine the structural change of alpine agriculture in the next decades? c) Which measures can agricultural policy take to support a sustainable transformation and competitiveness of alpine agriculture? AP BOKU Market Power: In this work package, supported by contemporary industrial economic concepts and with the tailwind of the instruments currently being implemented to strengthen the market position of small producers on the part of the EU Commission, the aim is to survey the views of the individual sectors in order to develop tailored proposals that contribute to fair conditions between market participants. AP ZGW-UBA-ÖSF Carbon footprint case study Development of scenarios and life cycle analysis for greenhouse gas emissions of different beef production technologies, taking into account the effect of import substitution in case of reduction of Austrian production. Political recommendations for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in beef production will be derived.
