Ecologic and microclimate effects of Green Infrastructure and Nature-based Solutions
Abstract
In light of climate change related challenges the advancement of nature-based solutions for Green Infrastructures are acknowledged to anticipate and compensate adverse effects resulting from dense building stocks and highly sealed areas. However, viable performance data are still missing and specific plant parameters are not available. ÖMIK is a long-term ecological and microclimatic research approach to gain long-term data on related performance indicators and relevant plant parameters (leaf area, biomass, biovolume, transmissivities, shading index, conductivities, water balance, air temperature and humidity and solar radiation in and behind the leaf bodies and others) and on care and maintenance efforts for restoring ecosystems and their services. Additionally, ecological indicators for biodiversity monitoring will be generated.
