Focus areas for species protection in wind energy planning - methodical approaches for the planning and designation of areas for wind energy use
Abstract
The project serves to improve the consideration of species protection concerns in the expansion of wind energy use in the area of land use designation. The planned concepts are to promote the implementation of species protection goals in the regional context. Due to the long planning periods, the provision must be thought of in the long term. The project will analyze and then compare the different methodological approaches for the designation of focus areas and identify manageable scientific procedures for the designation of wind energy zones, which at the same time allow for a legally secure implementation. These methods can vary depending on the natural conditions and the available data on which planners can rely, as well as the planning level under consideration. In order to promote an early exchange and the inclusion of affected groups of actors, a project support group is to be set up. The results are to be published in a manner accessible to practitioners and the public.
