Ground-mounted photovoltaics and solar thermal energy in rural areas -Design potentials and perspectives
Abstract
The aim of the research project is to develop a basis for discussion on the use of photovoltaics (solar thermal energy) on a spatial and design level from the perspective of landscape architecture. Based on the current discussion and the increasing demand for photovoltaic systems in rural areas, the current approaches for the integration of photovoltaic systems in rural landscape and settlement areas are examined in the present project. Thereby, a focus is put on design issues and solution approaches. Using the example of different types of landscapes and open spaces in southern and southeastern Styria, the potentials and possibilities for a landscape-compatible implementation of photovoltaic (solar thermal) systems will be exemplarily examined.
