Development of innovative gronyes for ecological enhancement of regulated rivers using the example of the Wienfluss
Abstract
The aim of the research project is to examine the suitability of innovative groynes for restoring fish passage in a variant study. The groynes are to be built on both sides of the bank. For each groyne variant, it is examined whether the rise in the water level is large enough that a passage through which fish can pass is formed between the groynes. In addition, water depths, velocity distribution and turbulent fluctuations will be determined. Furthermore, it should be concluded in which areas sediments settle and where they can be transported further. A possible increase in the water level in the event of flood runoff is also being investigated. The optimal groyne variant from the variant study is finally set up in a 1: 1 model in the BOKU research channel. Fish are used to verify fish passage.
