Long-term development of fish populations in eight rivers of the Pre-Alps and Bohemian Mass
Abstract
The project includes the sampling and analysis of 25 stretches of the streams Weiten, Große Krems, Kleine Erlauf, Pielach, Natters, Schwarza, Erlauf and Fischa Dagnitz, which were also investigated for the 100 & 125 year anniversary publication by the Institute of Hydrobiology 25 and 50 years ago. The documentation of the fish ecological development both in pre-Alpine rivers and in the Bohemian Mass over 50 years is of high scientific relevance against the background of multiple impacts such as climate crisis, morphological alterations, changes in fisheries management but also the increase of piscivorous predators.
