Development of mixed crop cultivation (intercropping) for agricultural value chains (Intercrop_IfÖL)
Abstract
Intercrop_IfÖL is a sub-project of the IntercropValuES project. It comprises the crop management part of the project and aims to exploit the benefits of mixed cropping (intercropping) to design and manage productive, diversified, resilient, profitable and environmentally friendly cropping systems that are acceptable and attractive to farmers and stakeholders in the agri-food chain. The project is a scientific research effort to better understand how mixed crops work. Intercrop_IfÖL's activities have the objectives of 1) supporting the development of locally relevant, legitimate and innovative agri-food chains through 13 co-innovation case studies and 2) developing new information, improved methods and tools for the management of mixed crops and the evaluation of their performance and profitability.
