ForestNavigator - Forest management, climate change & disturbances
Abstract
Within the ForestNavigator project WP3 develops the biophysical modelling component providing a harmonised meta model for a fully-fledged dynamic representation of forest dynamics at EU scale. Specific objectives are: (i) Screening, developing and selecting forest managements aimed at adpatation and mitigation in the EU forests. (ii) Interfacing forward-looking biophysical models for consistent dynamic modelling of forest growth and carbon sequestration under environmental change and alternative managements in the EU scale model. (iii) Developing, testing an integrated modelling of disturbances and their effects on forest carbon stocks. (iv) Assessing the carbon sequestration potential from afforestation, forest restoration and forest management
