WF Project Development of forest biodiversity monitoring and management, WP remote sensing.
Abstract
The natural area with its different land use types, patterns and processes is an important part of biological diversity. Accordingly, the interplay of different land use types (forest, open land, water bodies, forest edges) and forest habitat types and the resulting edge lines and transition areas are of particular importance (biotope network; stepping stones, corridors or fragmentation). The spatial analysis of forest-related habitat types and structural elements (e.g. biotope/old-growth groups) is carried out by a combination of remote sensing and terrestrial mapping/survey.
