River Monograph Isel
Abstract
The objectives of the book project are research, analysis and compilation of existing data and information about the river Isel/East Tyrol, its tributaries and its catchment area. In the format of a book the natural, ecological as well as sociological characteristics are described, which have shaped and still shape the alpine natural and cultural landscape and especially the river and valley area of the Isel. On the basis of historical and current surveys, photos and maps, the manifold functions of the Isel river system are presented in about 25 technicalchapters. Thus, the Isel shall also serve as a reference of a still near-natural alpine river for numerous alpine rivers. The book is intended to provide data and information for teachers, students, authorities and NGOs as well as the public interested in nature and the environment.
