physical model test on the construction of the new hydropower plant Leoben Ost
Abstract
Energie Steiermark Green Power GmbH and VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH plan to build a run-of-river hydro power plant on the Mur River in the eastern part of Leoben. The main structure consists of the powerhouse, located on the right bank and housing two turbine sets, and the weir, situated on the left bank. The powerhouse and weir will be constructed in a dry excavation pit, with the Mur River diverted past the pit for this purpose. A 1:40-scale model of the planned power plant is to be constructed at the BOKU River Lab. The model test will include investigations into construction diversion, weir conveyance capacity, turbine inflow and outflow, and bedload transport. To ensure the desired functionality during the construction phase and subsequent operation, structural adjustments may be necessary, which will be optimized through the model test.
