Laser-scanning: A comprehensive evaluation of its potential for high resolution digital surface model generation, forest stand parameter estimation, and single tree recognition.
Abstract
This project intends to evaluate laser-scanning in terms of the following three main lines: 1. Improvement of geo-coding and DEM-interpolation and particularly interpolation digital surface models. 2. Extraction of information relevant for forestry, such as forest stand parameters, tree- related, and derived data. 3. A comprehensive accuracy assessment of the raw data and the derived data. The project is split into a terrestrial and photogrammetric data collection part (which results in a reference data set) and a data processing and analysis part. The research forest of the University of Agricultural Sciences Vienna serves as test area.
