Development Options for Agriculture and Horticulture in Vienna - City Development and Agriculture
Abstract
Within the urban fringe agriculture is located in a critical zone of urban and agrarian land use interests. The goal of this project module lies within an analysis of the structural change of which urban agriculture in Vienna is concerned. The focus is set on the antagonism of legal and funding framework on the one hand and the farm perspectives on the other. After an evaluation of the current situation of urban agriculture in Vienna development options concerning cultivation, marketing and landscape planning are created. These options are intensively discussed with all people and institutions involved (city government of Vienna, farmers and farmers associations, urban planners,...). They finally serve as tools for further development strategies for urban agriculture in Vienna.
