Complete characterization of the glycosilation of the S-layer from Bacillus stearothermophilus NRS 2004/3a (H-96/2000)
Abstract
A complete characterization of the S-layer glycosilation of Bacillus stearothermophilus NRS 2004/3a includes the elucidation of the glycosidic linkage of the S-layer glycoprotein glycan, the identification of a putative core-region, and the analysis of glycan chain length variability. In combination with the knowledge of the S-layer structural gene and the localization of the glycosilation sites on the mature polypeptide the construction of tailored S-layer neoglycoproteins for specific applications will eventually emerge in the future.
