Abstract

Budgets for the operation of public transport networks which are in competition to individual car traffic are often discussed. Especially high investments and operation costs are criticised leading decision makers to the question if costs for an still efficient public transport system can be reduced. In the project MS-Wien two scenarios of a reduced public transport supply in Vienna were developed, their effects were analysed and compared to the existing situation.
