Fasteners in Case of Earthquake
Abstract
Aim of the projekt is the research of the behaviour of anchors in case of earthquake and the definition of seismic qualification tests of innovative products. Under earthquake action an anchor has to resist axial and shear shock loads and moments far beyond the static design level. This must be considered in defining the testing conditions. Due to the fact that during an earthquake the energy dissipation is of major importance the ductility of an anchor in both axial and shear direction plays an important role. Furthermore the effect of large cracks in the concrete is of interest. Basing on an idea of a ductile element an anchor with a high energy dissipation is developed and tested corresponding to the above mentioned actions. Both new buildings and buildings for seismic retrofitting represent possible application fields.
