WLS Report 43-2: Hydraulic modelling for an optimized constructional design at the confluence of Schwarzbach and Leogangener Ache, on behalf of the BMLFUW
Abstract
For the design of required sediment management measures the area at the confluence of Schwarzbach and Leoganger Ache is the critical location. The widening of Schwarzbach underneath the new established federal road bridge and the lifting of the bottom of Leoganger Ache by a protection project of the Forest Technical Service (1935) enable sediment deposition, which will lead in case of the design event to river upward aggradations of Schwarzbach with the associated overflows. By the protection project 1997 of the Forest Technical Service a reduction of sediments from Schwarzbach can be expected, but a complete preventing of sediment delivery into the fan channel will not be obtained. Therefore it is important for a successful protection project to optimize the hydraulics of this critical location. Within scenarios, that will be determined together with the local authorities of the Forest Technical Service, different discharges of both brooks with the corresponding bed load transport in Schwarzbach shall be tested in model experiments. From those follow the conclusions for the optimization of the torrent protection within the muzzle area.
