Soil - Root ¿ Interactions
Abstract
Appropriate and balanced application of fertilizers is of particular interest for sustainable agriculture. Soil capability to supply plants with necessary nutrients, respectively Nitrogen, plays a key roll. Root growth is strongly influenced by diverse soil factors. Additionally, solutes utilization by plants depends on the uptake capacity of the roots. Size and morphological characteristics of roots are important indicator for their potential to provide plant with the necessary water and nutritious. Results of this study support our better understanding of interactions between different parameters of the root and plant development, and soil qualities (i.e. soil water content, bulk density and porosity, soil strength, organic matter, pH, etc.) with respect to solute (nitrogen) transport in order to facilitate applied ecological research.
