- Lebensraum und Landschaft
Abstract
The aim of the project is to develop a method which enables to optimise the avalanche safety in a ski area. The requirement is to provide objectively comprehensible and comparable bases for decision making in the field of risk management. The method which has to be developed will be summarized in a manual and be exemplified by case studies. This handbook will serve as support for expert activity in validation and design of avalanche protection measures in ski resorts and will be used by the forest-technical service for torrent and avalanche control. The results of the project will also be used as a basis to evaluate the enactments which regularise the avalanche safety standard in ski resorts in Austria.
