Abstract
In the catchment area of Lattenbach the tectonic border between Silvrettakristallin and the northern limestone alps is located, whereby spacious mass movements arise. The Lattenbach itself erodes the toe of the sliding slope and initiates further mass movements. Therefore viscous debris flows occur frequently. Regarding to the progressive slope movements in the upper reach there is a high demand for a protection plan. A goal of the project is the evaluation of the erosion dynamics in the range of the slope movements and the expanded sources of debris. The investigation concentrates on debris flows events. The effect of the defense works on the expiration and the intensity of the events is to be examined. The mobilization and the transport of solids is to be evaluated in connection with the defense works. The results of different scenarios are the basics for the protection planning and point out necessary restructuring and completion of the existing defense works. The project results are part of an indispensable decision base for a comprehensive protection concept for the endangered objects in the lower reach beside the measurements and event documentations in the context of the monitoring Lattenbach.
