Multi-criteria evaluation of biosphere mitigative capacity against hazardous gravitative land surface processes
Abstract
The definition of a sound common forest policy is one of the priorities of the European RP6. Especially for Alpine environments only multi-purpose management concepts are assumed to be appropriate. Therefore paramount rating goals such as sustainability are essential. This can be measured in the domains: (i) biological diversity, (ii) forest health and vitality, (iii) productive function, (iv) protective function, (v) economic and social needs. The proposed project will focus especially these points in order to develop rating concepts and management policies for mountain forestry in the light of protective functionality against gravitative land surface processes. These concepts and tools will act on a regional to supra-regional level and therefore incorporate a strong intra-disciplinary approach.
