Composting and its Impact on Climate in Consideration of Process Engineering and Compost Application

In this project the current system “Recycling of biogenous wastes in the City of Vienna” is analysed and evaluated. The analysis will focus on the carbon content in the raw material. The carbon flow will be analysed including the following system elements: generation of biogenous wastes, collection, processing, transport processes, composting process and application of the final product (compost). Besides carbon also other inputs and outputs (energy, water, emissions,…) are taken into consideration. Thus the aim of the project is to assess all emissions with impact on climate and sinks emerging at the recycling of biogenous wastes in the City of Vienna.
