Statistical analysis at the detection of maximum rate of foreign pollination in maize production fields in consideration of the environments in the main production areas of Austria
Abstract
For the estimation of maximum proportion of external pollination the Institute of Seeds at AGES uses emasculation of plants before blossom so that there should not happen internal pollination. Therefore the proportion of matured grains on the maize cob is a very concervative estimate of the external pollination from above. Within this project a design for grain count of cobs should be prepared so that it is possible to consider a number of factors (region, proportion of crop species, main wind direction, distance and so on) in some optimal kind on the one hand and to keep time and efforts restricted on the other side. The description of possible influence should be done numerically (ANOVA) as well as graphically (maps).
