MUBIL II - Monitoring the effects of conversion to organic farming
Abstract
A long-term field monitoring was established on the biofarm „Rutzendorf“ in the first project phase from 2003 to 2005 (project MUBIL, project number: 1321). The starting situation of soil and plant parameters and first effects of different organic fertilisation systems have been examined (variant 1: green manure, variant 2: green manure plus communal compost, variant 3: farmyard manure). The monitoring is continued in the project MUBIL II with a main focus on plant parameters. A new fertilisation system (variant 4: biogas slurry) is going to be established. The aims of the project are: to examine degree and rate of changes concerning soil and plant parameters with the conversion to organic farming; to study the effects of different organic fertilisation systems on soil properties and on crop performances; to assess the effects of hedges on crop yield in adjacent fields.
