Abstract
A procedure for estimating river low flows Q95 (i.e. the discharge ecceeded 95% of the time) for the Austrian federal state Burgenland is developped. The procedure is based on a standardised and actual reference period (1977-2004), and will enable the user to estimate low flows at arbitrary river sites, including gauged and ungauged sites. The stability of the low flow characteristic against climate variability is examined by the sensitivity of Q95 with respect to single years. Guidelines describing how to proceed under specific hydrological conditions will be developped.
