ENCROP - Promoting the production and utilisation of energy crops at European level
- Nachwachsende Rohstoffe und neue Technologien
Abstract
The objective of the proposed action is to promote the production and utilisation of lignocellulosic energy crops at the European level. It aims at increasing the knowledge of different actors along the energy crop production chain as well as the general public on the ecological, technical, economic, logistic and administrative matters related to energy crop production and utilisation. The present contribution focuses on the two pathways with most prominent application at European level at present for conversion of lignocellulosic energy crop biomass to biofuels and/or energy: direct combustion and conversion into biogas. The main direct outcomes will be in the form of practical demonstrations, associated info days and training courses in each country involved, national and European seminars, international study tours, handbooks in both national languages and English, and information DVD in English. Furthermore the development of the market for the energy crop production and utilisation will be facilitated by bringing together the actors from the different parts of the crop-to-energy production chain.
