Effect of temporary and permanent protection measures in winter 1998/99; Data collection

The main goal of the investigations is to generate a data pool providing a detailed overview of the avalanche events in winter 1999. Data will be collected from different authorities, majors and local experts. The information will be analyzed, stored and structured for future needs. Key questions about the impact and effectiveness of permanent and temporary defence measures under extreme load should be answered with the help of the collected data. If data quality is found to enable the formulation of further questions they will be highlighted and presented to be answered in a future project.
