Abstract
The project 111 “Historical event documentation - Part II” deals with the collecting of historical data regarding flood and avalanche events. Historical events of the provinces of Upper Austria, Styria and Lower Austria are processed and integrated into a historical event database. Data sources are the hazard maps of the Austrian service for torrent and avalanche control and the chronicle of Stiny. Field work is necessary to collect historical information from the hazard maps. The result is a database of individual datasets satisfying at least the so called 3W standard (What, When, Where).
