Management of coppice and schort rotation forests

Establishment and monitoring of permantent trials and demonstration plots (Upper- and Lower Austria). Objectives: Comparison of yields and productivity of short rotation stands and coppice stands according to tree species (poplar, willow), rotation period and planting design. Description of the biomass production in short rotaion areas and improvement of the knowledges for optimization of energy (firewood) wood production (silvicultural and economic aspects) and improvement and adaption of existing decision guidances.
