Abstract
Copper pigments are widely used as green pigments in illustrated manuscripts and ancient maps. Metal ions, like copper and iron are responsible for severe cellulose degradation and hence deterioration of valuable cultural objects. This project will focus on the evaluation of preventive means and conservation techniques to effectively stop copper corrosion on cellulose. In addition the elucidation of reaction mechanisms of potential stabilizers will be addressed applying different analytical techniques.
