Alpine-Carpathian-Corridor: Basis:Modelling
Abstract
In this project a spatial wildlife model of the Alpine – Carpathian – Corridor is generated in a top – down approach. This model forms the basic for derived infrastructure and regional planning like placement of wildlife overpasses or spatial zoning. A spatial wildlife ecology model is generated. Expert knowledge from previous studies at the institute is included as well as new methods of satellite image processing and GIS . At the first level an area of about 10 000 km² is examined. With this information bottlenecks can be detected where the spatial wildlife model is detailed by means of aerial image interpretation, filed inspection and additional rules.
