Green Track
Abstract
Due to a lack of environmental guidelines the call for rail-infrastructural projects is often difficult. We aim to work out indicators for the evaluation of such projects with respect of their environmental impact, and to test them on a future section of tram line 26 in Vienna. In the course of the research work we investigate and test above all native and site specific wild plant species that are well adapted to the environmental conditions on tram tracks. These plants are expected to form a more or less self-sustaining plant layer which does not need excessive care, but provokes the impression of "vivid green" along and around the tram tracks.
