Abstract
The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin was assigned a preliminary study for the "South Tisza Inter-Region Development Project" (PreSTIRD) in Hungary. One part of this project is the reconstruction of the river morphological changes (since ca. 1800 A.D.) of a section of the Tisza River north of Szolnok due to flood protection and channelization. The Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem management (IHG) is entrusted with the supervision of the GIS-reconstructions and the analysis of the former river morphological conditions based on historical maps and surveys.
