Phasing out of the milk quota – perspectives and aims of the dairy industry and milk producers in Austria
Abstract
The aim of the study is to provide information to political and private agents (lobby groups, dairy industry, milk supply cooperatives, and milk producers) on the organisation of the Austrian dairy sector after the phasing out of the milk quota in 2015. A questionnaire will reveal perspectives and aims of dairy CEOs and milk producers for the period after the milk quota. The analysis about common and distinct interests between the dairy factory CEOs and milk producers shall structure the discussion as well as provide options for political and private actions. A main part of the questionnaire will focus on the design of contracts between dairy factories and milk producers (price and quantity regulations, contract length and regulation intensity) with the aim to describe an ‘ideal’ contract for both parties. It should provide information about the institutional structure and organisation of the dairy sector after 2015.
